2018 - Te Rangi Aniwaniwa prize giving

Thank you to Te Rangi Aniwaniwa school for allowing us to contribute three Mana Kai Honey prizes to your end-of-year prize giving, late last week.

Te Rina and other Mana Kai team members have made numerous visits to spend time with students, at her former school, in celebration of Bee Aware Month 2018.

Activities included creating beeswax wraps (with special thanks to Joanne Lillian Shanks), colouring competitions of the Mana Kai Maori bee and many different class demonstrations (some even including a real-life beehive!) to share her knowledge around the importance of bees. It’s safe to say the students and teachers alike have developed a sweet spot, and new appreciation, for honey bees and all they do!

There were many awesome custom-made beeswax wraps and beautifully decorated Mana Kai Maori bee pictures. The three prizes went to the following students for the staffs picks.

·         Elite – 11 years

·         Wairere – 10 years

·         Angie – 6 years

Check out the awesome drawing and colouring in below! You’ll also see this artwork featured in the 2019 Mana Kai Honey calendar.

The three chosen winning pieces. It was difficult to choose, we loved them all!
